At the risk of sounding cliche, I'm taking this journey to find myself. I have started to realize that over the last couple years that I haven't been engaging my passions. I have been in education for the last 10 years and I am blessed to have always had a stable job, a roof over my head, and plenty provided for me. However, the most exciting moment of my last 5 years was when I signed up for and then ran an Ironman triathlon. Too often, I hide behind the comforts of electronics, fast food, and general sloth. It is in this vein that I am hiking the Appalachian Trail. From the moment I first heard about it, I was completely excited. I knew that I had to do it at some point. I hope to use my time on the trail to learn more about myself, as well as to figure out where I want to go next. I begin my journey July 3rd.
