Hoi! I'm originally from the Netherlands but currently living in Denmark. I have various European hikes on my resume and feel most at home on trails above the Arctic Circle. This year I'll head of north again, this time to thruhike the Artic Circle Trail in Greenland.

ACT Day 9: From Fjords to Dog Town, the last miles in Greenland
Four days alone and I finally meet another hiker. The sled dogs in Dog Town howl like a full Arctic choir, and Sisimiut rises ahead, a colorful welcome with a long-overdue shower and laundry. The last day on the ACT is challenging but full of magic.
ACT day 8: Sprains & Sightings
Sprained ankle? Check. A panicked reindeer? Check. Scratched legs and solo trekking through endless Arctic wilderness? Check. Day 8 of the Arctic Circle Trail was again full of challenges and surprises.
ACT Day 7: How Many Mosquitoes Is Too Many?
How many mosquitoes are too many? On Day 7 of the Arctic Circle Trail, I may have found the answer. Wading through swampy trails with mosquitoes all over, it felt less like hiking and more like being the main course at an all-you-can-eat buffet.
ACT Day 6: There Never Was A Better Bridge
Nothing tests a hiker’s spirit like rationing snacks. Add in reindeer bones, fuel fumes in the hut, and a hare casually supervising toilet duty, and you’ve got a true Arctic adventure. At least the bridge delivered.
ACT Day 5: Bridgerton on the Tundra
The morning was calm and sunny, the kind of day you think will be easy. By evening, I was wrestling my tent and wondering why I was paying for the Garmin weather forecasts.
ACT day 4 – Too Much Information?
ACT Day 4 was pure magic. I met just one hiker all day, waded straight into a lake, and found camp on a peninsula. Greenland’s vastness has a way of humbling you.
ACT Day 3 – Musk Ox, Canoes, and Midnight Visitors
Face to face with musk ox, thigh-deep rivers, and sharing camp with reindeer—Day 3 of the Arctic Circle Trail in Greenland felt straight out of a dream.
KRT / ACT day 2: Bones, Mud & Fresh Water
Bones, mud, and Arctic fog—Day 2 takes me from the Kangerlussuaq Ridge to the legendary Arctic Circle Trail.
KRT day 1: Rookie mistake makes for an uncomfortable day
Mosquitoes the size of drones and trails that vanished into nothingness—welcome to the Kangerlussuaq Ridge Trail.
A Freezing Adventure – The Greenlandic Ice Cap (Day 2)
From icy panoramas to mystery bird poop and unexpected reindeer sightings, Greenland proves that even a short hike can feel epic.
