My name is Teri (Hoozurmama) and I'm attempting a NOBO thru hike. My hometown is St. Louis (Go Cardinals!) but I've call Texas home for the last 20 years. After my hike I'm headed to North Carolina. I've spent 32 years in the corporate world but my most important job is being a mom. I'll keep that job but my new "day" job is slaying mountains between GA and ME. I love God, my family, Diet Coke, birds singing (not crackles screaming), the smell of fresh cut grass, baseball, soccer (well basically all sports), Blue Bell ice cream, The Waltons, and the color purple.
Could she see that I in fact was asking those same questions of myself? Still looking intently in my eyes she said "I not go on Blood Mountain". I quietly responded with a mischievous lilt "I am".
HYOH (hike your own hike) seems to apply to everything but gear. People are passionate about their choices. Over the last six years of researching
Nobody gets to Maine on their own. These are those that have and will be my village to get me there. Who will be yours on your journey?
So why would anyone leave all of that to spend six months in the woods? I don't really know. A desire to be cleansed of many things is the best way I can describe it.
