Baby, it’s cold outside!
Breaking news! There should be 7 inches of snow near Amicalola Falls this weekend. Why not worry about it a little bit…
Is my sleep system appropriate? Is this snow still going to be there when I start hiking? Will it melt and get the whole place wet and muddy?
SO WHAT!!!! I CAN DO THAT! !!!!
I am Canadian, I have slept in a tent in the snow. I have cross-country skied at -40 Celcius with 45 pounds on my back. We even had to open the trail in 2 feet of powdery “shnoutte” that time. But… I was 25 years younger…
What else could I worry about…
Oh yes! Food shipments!
I had planned to have 10 boxes (or the content of):
one directly in my backpack,
one brought to me by my dear husband,
and 8 shipped.
Not so bad.
But after distributing all the food that I lovingly bought, cooked, dried, vacuum-sealed…
I have 16 boxes to ship!
I knew I would be homeless for a while, but didn’t expect to also end up totally broke!!! These shipments are not free! But my mother always told me not to waste any food…
Hopefully I will not get a serious distaste of that “fine cuisine” because I am going to eat it every hundred miles.
Maybe I should walk slower to space out my home-made meals?
NOOOO!!!!! That wouldn’t work! We got to keep some momentum, otherwise…
It is not good to be inside my head these days… Let’s go back to bed and count the days before departure…
Soon I will have more to describe than my open-eyed nightmares.
