This was a fun, funny and refreshingly candid episode. I laughed numerous times while listening.

I do want to illuminate the issue of describing female genitalia in terms of male genitalia, to which Elise objected.

All human embryos begin as female — that’s literally the default mode. Then, under the influence of testosterone in utero, some develop male anatomy (and more, such as the propensity for male secondary sex characteristics and so on). So truly, the clitoris and the penis really are just different forms of the same embryonic organ (likewise, embryonic labia develop into scrotal tissue in males, and there are other directly analogous anatomical organs).

Elise is right, in a way: If anything, male anatomy should probably be described in terms of female anatomy, given that all of us spent our earliest days in the womb as the female default. And indeed, it often is. But if one is speaking about female anatomy, well, the comparison can only go one way, and vice versa (otherwise, it’s not a comparison, and the organs are, indeed, comparable, at least in terms of their development in the womb).

So the notion of saying, “The clitoris is analogous to the penis” etc. is not so much about sexism as it is about embryology — and it’s true!

I’m really glad that the girl stuff episode got a second run! I do wish that if it becomes a regular annual topic that the panel would be more diverse in the way of sexual orientation, people of color, etc. (the Badass ladies you’ve had are awesome, not a critique, just a wish)

Also I will say that I did pack out a toy ? on trail, less than 5oz including the charging cord lol and it was so worth it
