Backpacker Radio #128 | Nimblewill Nomad

In today’s episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek we are joined by backpacking legend Nimble Nomad. The name is likely familiar as Nimblewill Nomad recently made news for setting the record as the oldest person to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail at 83 years old. We learn all about this odyssey- and he does not sugarcoat how challenging it was. He also shares some of the wisdom he’s accrued over his many tens of thousands of miles on trail, which can be applied to both your on and off-trail worlds.

We close the show with a triple crown of rooms in the house and some gift ideas for the backpacker in your life.

Obviously the 83 year old guy wants to be famous but also does not want to do interviews. And this “I’m just an old man” excuse doesn’t cut it he was just rude. It’s not like he did anything that great anyway he’s just been wandering around in the woods for decades, something First Nation Peoples never get credit for accomplishing. I would have hated to have had to go to him as an optometrist … “I had a professional career” … excuse me Sir you’re on a professional Podcast promoting yourself so there is no excuse for your poor behavior. At 66 I now see why the younger generation hate us. I too am an “old man” and I hope to gosh I’m never like him!
