Job Description
Backpacker Radio is looking for a new crew member to hop aboard our bright orange rocket ship. We’re after someone who knows their way around social media, has a genuine love for Hiker Trash culture, and is sharp with the details. While we’re giving strong preference to local candidates, it’s not a dealbreaker. This role is all about helping us bring even more flavor to the podcast and leveling up Backpacker Radio’s presence.
Responsibilities
1. Social Media Proficiency
- Manage and enhance Backpacker Radio’s social media presence across all platforms.
- Stay on top of trends and analytics to help steer our social strategy.
- Engage with the Hiker Trash community with love and affection and poop memes.
2. Production-Minded
- Attend podcast recordings to identify, flag, and capture standout moments for social media promo.
- Brainstorm content for podcast segments—both evergreen ideas for ongoing use and unique concepts tailored to our guests.
3. Copywriting:
- Craft copy that fills readers’ brains with knowledge and their tear ducts with moisture.
4. Design Savvy:
- Possess a strong eye for design with proficiency in Canva or similar design platforms. Additional design experience or skills are a plus.
5. Hiker Trash Culture Warrior:
- Has a firm grasp in the world of Hiker Trash culture and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that this way of life is not compromised by the global elites.
6. Vibes Specialist:
- Bringer of vibes in the most positive sense.
Requirements:
- Passion for hiking and a keen understanding of Hiker Trash culture.
- Proficiency in managing social media accounts.
- Creative mindset with ideas to elevate Backpacker Radio’s content.
- Ability to vibe well with team members and podcast guests.
- Proficiency with Canva or equivalent design software.
- Proficiency with Capcut or equivalent video editing software.
Compensation: The chosen candidate will start with an hourly rate of $25. This position is part-time, which will begin at 10 hours per week with the potential for growth based on performance.
This role will start no later than early March 2025.
