HISTORY

The Trek was born officially in 2012 under the name “Appalachian Trials”,  a book by an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker and the website’s editor-in-chief, Zach Davis. After the book’s success, AppalachianTrials.com became the blogging home to hundreds of other current and former thru-hikers. In 2016, the site rebranded as The Trek and serves as the long-distance backpacking headquarters for hundreds of thousands of readers each month. Backpacker Radio is The Trek’s flagship podcast, and the #1 hiking podcast according to Apple’s rankings.
