Break – Back in MO
9 May 2017
I was out of the Gooder Grove Hostel early so that I coul pickup my rental car. Thanks Zen for a great night of sleep and your southern family hospitality.
I started off my day at the Normandie diner in Franklin, NC with big breakfast. It was way too much food. Who would have thought a week on trail would curb my appetite, but I couldn’t eat it all.
If you think a long day of hiking is tough, try making a 13 hour drive! Tough in a different way.
Well, I made it home just in time to go to bed. It was way past my hiker bedtime of 8pm. So, I had to tell trail stories to myWife and she laughed at the funny and unique experiences so far. Not everything makes the blog…just the printable material, so I had to fill her in in the hiker life and tge cool friends I’ve made.
It’s good to be home even if it’s only for a few days. However, there are those that think I should be DONE. So, GiGi and Isabell….I still have a lot of miles to hike. With only 100 down, it will be another 21 weeks of hiking.
In the drive home, I got lost and missed my exit…kinda like trying to follow some of those white blazes on the AT…it’s easy to get lost.
Also, I see the waters are still up in Southern Missouri. I had a few detours around flooded roadways.
To do list in MO:
- Sort out some gear items
- Get home (RV) home
- Love on the family — most important
Then it’s a rush back to Franklin NC and get back in trail.
