A Happy Hiker Reunion

This morning I slept in as late as I wanted to at the room. We’re taking another zero day today. But even better than that, we’re staying in the same room today. Which means we get to sleep in as long as we want, be nice and comfortable, and not worry about moving somewhere else later on today.

After sleeping in for a while, I finally got up. And the first thing that I did was get to work on some writing and video work for a few hours. I have a lot to do today and I figured I would be most productive if I started early. I worked for a while and then Sparkle and James came by to say hello. It’s so nice seeing them again and I’m really looking for it hiking together.

I hung out with Sparkle and James for a while and then got back to work for another couple of hours. After working for two or three more hours, I was absolutely starving. I hadn’t eaten anything all day, so I finally decided to get something to eat. There is actually a Korean food truck right by our motel, which was very tempting. So far in New Mexico I’ve really only been able to get Mexican food and American food. So I was really excited for some variety.

The goodies that I got at the convenience store. I got a few things for my resupply and then some drinks for today.

Around 1pm Syrup and I headed over to the Korean food truck. I ordered a Thai coffee, a beef bulgogi platter with rice and kimchi, and some dumplings. Everything seemed super fresh and was made to order. While we waited for the food to cook, I headed over to the convenience store across the street to grab some more drinks. Then I brought the food back to the room to hang out and eat. The food wound up being fantastic! It was probably one of the best meals that I’ve had in ages.

Syrup and I ate our food and hung out. Then I got back to work. I have a really cool project in the works that I’m not able to announce yet. But it involves communicating with a lot of people and sending tons of emails. That’s one of the main reasons why I’m taking the day off today, because I have a deadline that I need to meet and a lot of people I need to get in touch with. So I got back to work and sent out dozens of emails and then got more writing done. Afterwards, I felt so good and in a really productive afternoon.

Some of my food from the Korean food truck. The dumplings were good, but the beef bulgogi dish was amazing.

The beef bulgogi dish served over rice, with veggies, and kimchi!

After working for another few hours, I decided to relax and hang out. Sparkle came over to use our kitchenette and I baked some cookies in the oven. I made ice cream cookies sandwiches again and just chilled. For the rest of the night I just did some casual video work and stuff that I could do more passively while I was watching TV.

Tomorrow we’re going to try to have a fairly early start and get out of town and back to trail. Luckily we were able to walk right out of town passes right through town.

My resupply for this next stretch of trail.
