Let Me Introduce Myself; I’m Yard Sale

Hello there. First off, thanks for taking interest in my blog. I’m so excited to share my journey along the CDT with you.

So, if you’re going to be a hiking buddy, you should probably know some basics about me. Allow me to introduce myself: I’m Elysha, or as many know me, Yard Sale. I’m from Maine, where I grew up in the outdoors and spawned a love for hiking. My true passion for backpacking was discovered on an overnight trip up the Bigelow mountains in Western Maine while attending a summer camp. I remember it being hard, the summit seemed impossibly far, the steep terrain terrifying, and my legs about to give up. I also remember loving every minute of it.

Since that trip, I have grown my skills in the outdoor world. I spent the next few years hiking around Maine and New Hampshire before taking on the AT in 2015. After a successful thru-hike, I was even more hooked and began immediately to plan a PCT hike, which I completed in 2017.

When I’m not thru-hiking, I’m running, cross country skiing, rock climbing, or hiking in the mountains of New England. I love the outdoors and all it has to teach and the connection one can make with nature. When I’m outside in the wilderness I feel completely content. I feel as though I have found the place I belong. I think everyone else belongs there too. No matter the sport, no matter the level, as long as you’re practicing good LNT, then you belong outside as well. So whether you’re day hiking, mountain biking some sweet trails, or sending at your local crag, get out there and find your passion.

I have a childlike appreciation for nature, so as we’re hiking along don’t be surprised if I stop you to show you a cool bug or tell you that the cloud looks like a dragon. I hope you’re looking forward to this journey as much as I am. Until next time!
