Continuing After Trail Days


With the rains returned, the quiet of nature helps me adjust to the aftershock of Trail Days. The weekend was packed with amazing and wonderful reunions, bands, gear vendors, activities, and food. I’m thankful every day for the community of thru-hikers and those who support our hikertrash ways.


Where else in the world can you find this kind of family? Even 2015 thru-hiker Dixie, Homemade Wanderlust on YouTube, referred to the Appalachian Trail with nostalgia as she regrets not having a similar group of supporters on the Pacific Crest Trail.  We are united in a single, wonderful adventure and it all culminated in that one moment.


What’s next? Harper’s Ferry, I suppose. And then onward. Ever forward.

Jeremy G is a military veteran and enthusiastic hiker. Starting in Hawaii, Jeremy began the Barefoot Hikers, a social group aimed at trail restoration, history and conservation while building friendships. With some 300 hike events over nine years, the group reached 17,000 Barefoot Hikers without injury or fatalities (very rare in Hawaii). In 2016, Jeremy transitioned into the civilian world with hopes of continuing his hobby as more of a lifestyle. He set out to cover two of the National Scenic Trails, AT and the FNST. Follow along with the OG Hawaii 'Barefoot Hiker' as he attempts the AT!
