Day 11

Day 11- Another Big Push!

I hit the ground running early again today, seems to be a common theme this week. I needed to get to the Summerhaven post office by 3pm tomorrow to get my new charging cable Eric sent me. In order to make that happen I needed to hit 25 miles again today or atleast as close to it as I could get.

I continued the descent from Saguaro National Park, a little stiff from these aggressive days but not too bad. I passed a sign saying I was leaving Rincon National forest and realized I must be well into or past passage 8. The AZT has 26 areas or passages and I had made an attempt to learn them all before starting but didn’t quite get it. I also realized I was a few days into April now. The backpacking time warp seemed to have taken hold of me.

I descended into a beautiful valley with many Saguaros standing proud on the hillsides. The miles seemed to slip away. Eventually I reached Sabino Canyon and it was just so beautiful. I ended up stopping a couple miles short of my goal because I couldn’t just whip through this section,,it was too stunning (also my feet were very tired.) I setup camp near the creek and enjoyed a lovely night listening to the roar of the water.
