Day 4- More Beautiful Views

Day 4

I woke early and was ready to put in a nice long hiking day. I was relieved to be feeling pretty neutral again today. The wind was intense but didn’t seem too out of the ordinary for the area. I slept decently but was often woken by the whistling wind and shaking tent. The sunrise wasn’t visible through the trees but I did see some color flooding the sky.
I set out and was immediately just so awed by the rolling hills and flat scrubby land. Within a few miles I reached a water cache with a full supply left by trail angels…thank you! I accidentally got off trail but managed to make my way back within a few minutes. I chatted with Andy for a few minutes while hiking and met Highflyer, another AZT thru-hiker.
The day was warm but the high winds kept everything cool. I left my sun hat and sleeves on knowing the sun was still beating down no matter how comfortable I felt. I saw some flora and animals today….cows and some sort of wild turkey! The constant views just continued to amaze me. Water was available in some surviving puddles in creek beds.
I reached a camp spot just a few miles out of the first trail town Patagonia, AZ. I had booked a hotel in town ahead of time but was only able to get it for Friday so tomorrow will be a quick hike into town where I’ll get most of my resupply done straight away so I can leave quickly Saturday. No cell service at my campsite this time but the wind was certainly there. I spent most of my night in my tent because I was worried it would blow away even with the rocks and guylines holding it down.
