Days 102 to 135. Off the trail at home in New Jersey
I went off the trail at the Piazza Rock trailhead near Rangley and drove home for an extended rest in New Jersey. My body finally gave out due to the extended calorie deficit.
On the way home, Kim and I stopped in Acadia National park for a day. We had some local lobster, drove up Cadillac Mountain and swam at the beach in Acadia.
We also stopped at Kim’s favorite beach in Gloucester Massachusetts.
After I was home for a couple weeks, my body began to itch all over and I developed what looked like bug bites all over my body. I went to a dermatologist and found out I had apparently acquired scabies from one of the hostels in Maine. The cure required me to stay home an extra week and a half. I was off the trail for a total of five weeks!
