We are looking for someone who is graphically inclined and loves the outdoors to join our team. The chosen candidate will get the opportunity to have their work exposed in front of hundreds of thousands of people every month as part of one of the fastest growing media organizations in the outdoor industry..

THE INTERNSHIP

We are looking for a rock-star intern who possess both an eye for top-notch design and the technical skills to execute. A definite bonus for anyone who loves the outdoors. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign. We have a host of fun design projects already in queue for whoever is capable of joining our talented, young team.

Simply put, the chosen candidate will received the opportunity to have their work featured on a highly respected outdoor website- recently recognized as the Top Hiking and Outdoor Blog by USA TODAY.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must be able to work between 5-10 hours per week. Must have own computer, software, and Internet access. This is a remote position, unless the candidate lives near Golden, CO, in which case they have the option to work from The Trek HQ.

Additionally, the ideal candidate has:

  • At least 2-4 years experiences with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, or other similar quality photo editor / image creation software.
  • A love for backpacking / hiking (not required, but a bonus).
  • A background in web design (not required, but a bonus).

HISTORY

The Trek is a media company dedicated to thru-hiking and long distance backpacking enthusiasts. In 2012, the site was born as Appalachian Trials, named after the self-published book by Zach Davis, the website’s founder and editor-in-chief.

In 2016, Appalachian Trials rebranded as The Trek, and in the process has become one of the top websites for long distance backpackers across the world. Today the website is read by more than 200,000 people per month and serves as the writing and blogging home to more than 300 backpackers.
