Weird?
It all seems a bit unreal, this plunge into reality. Folks who’ve been hiking in other lands “get it.” It’s a bit weird. The folks hosting the gourmet meal, M n D ,and probably the first kitchen-prepared meal on china (!) with napkins yet!! are themselves dedicated athletes. They understand. Both are long-distance kayakers and racers.
We are the local freaks. Most our age, take air conditioned cars a few blocks, loudly complaining about aches and pains. Organ recitals…..
Oh well, those of us who travel far are always outsiders. The people we meet on our journeys are family and our nails and socks forever gritty.
