Final thoughts section hike 2024

296 miles in 19 days this year. You do the math 😁.
We had some beautiful weather early on then some rainy wet damp days. That’s the AT for ya.
It’s been almost a week since I’m back home and it gives you some perspective.
I miss the people of course. The trail magic, while not as abundant as last year, and we think that’s because of Shenandoah park, was as usual, very much appreciated. A special shout out goes to fresh grinds. His hospitality is second to none.
We met Captain, who starting Saturday will be attempting the FKT- NOBO. We will be watching.
Met so many dogs this year, which reminded me of home.
We were disappointed in the quantity of animals in the Park this year but we heard that a large number of bears have died of mange over the past few years.
Did see a few turtles in and near Harper’s Ferry.
Speaking of Harper’s Ferry, this town is not to be missed. (As if you could hiking the trail. )
It has so much history and a beautiful downtown as well as great scenery along the Shenandoah.
Can’t wait till next year to continue my trek. I’ve loved it and I think that section hiking is for me.
