Findings Kindness on the Appalachian Trail 2017 Thru Hike
I’ve said before that while I was researching the Appalachian Trail, a couple of things stuck out at me and they were people showing kindness to other people and Hiker hunger. I’ve been blessed to receive kindness from people that I don’t know and it’s always very humbling. I have not however minute tact by hiker hunger more on that later. It’s very encouraging to me and it should be to everyone that these kind of actions go on every day of our lives no matter where we are there are people doing acts of kindness for people they don’t know. Just this morning when I made the decision to do a zero day in Fayetteville Pennsylvania, I experienced another one of these acts of kindness from someone I didn’t know. I was walking out of the Caledonia state park and a couple walked by and engaged me in conversation. The gentleman ask if I was a hiker and I responded yes. He asked are you on the Appalachian Trail and I responded yes I am. He said are you a thru-hiker and I said yes I am. I started at Harpers Ferry West Virginia and I’m heading north to Maine. He said that is something that we have always wanted to do, he and his wife. They ask where I was from and I told them Oklahoma and they replied we have a daughter graduating next week from a school in Edmond, Oklahoma Christian college. That shared bit of information had joined us and made us be able to talk to each other. As they were leaving the gentleman said is there is there anything at all we can do for you? I said, kind of jokingly, sure you can give me a ride into Fayetteville. And he said I would be very happy to do that. Thus the act of kindness done for someone that they didn’t know. God’s blessing, angels unaware? So now I’m in a hostile outside of Fayetteville Pennsylvania just got through doing a load of laundry, I’m dry and warm and the body is healing. So todays zero day is going to be OK! Let the rain storms pass, get back on the trail tomorrow and it will be a cool but dry day. For those of you who would like to follow my adventure via video and pictures you can do that on my Facebook page Gary Stell. There’s a couple of us around in the USA, but if you want to see the videos of where I’m hiking and the terrain now that I am hiking, I try to give some footage of the terrain and let you know something about the area I’m hiking in each installment. So be my guest you’re welcome! So later! This is OneWay, having a zero day! God bless everybody.
