Forest Service Reopens AT Trailheads in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia
Appalachian Trail trailheads and access points in four national forests in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia will reopen on May 22.
In a statement here, the US Forest Service said Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in Georgia, Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests in North Carolina, Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee, and George Washington and Jefferson National Forests in Virginia will participate in the coordinated reopening.
The Triple Crown in Virginia will remain closed, which includes Dragon’s Tooth trailhead, the Forest Service said.
Shelters will remain closed.
The Forest Service recommends that hikers avoid gathering at parking areas, refrain from gathering in large groups, stay six feet from others, especially when passing other hikers, and wear face coverings according to CDC guidelines.

Good to hear the trails are opening. I believe I will wait till late summer, after it calms down a bit. I need to do the Triple Crown as a personal goal. Then there is Va Creeper Trail and the section NB Damascus to Marion
