I can’t believe my AT start date is finally here.

After a morning at the local North Georgia Outfitter in Ellijay GA to pickup a few last minute items (lighter sleeping pad and a AT hardcopy guide book), I found myself finally at Amicalola Falls.

Here, I did the standard photos at the arch, weighed my pack and had Bill from the ATC do a shakedown on my gear.

Bill helped me remove a few items which would help lighten my pack a little more.  Getting rid of weight is always good and will save my back.

I talked myWife into hiking the falls and it was tough.  I’m so glad I wasn’t wearing my pack.

It was a great day to start off my thru hike.
