Lovely Days: Colorado

“When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world’s alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it’s gonna be
A lovely day”
-Lovely Day, Bill Withers-
I took off in May.  I up and r-u-n-n-o-f-t! Dipped out!  Split.  I’ve been hiking in magic places and I’ve been jumping on opportunities for adventures disguised as deviations.  I’ve been trying to trust in the unknown.  I’ve been high and I’ve been low.  I’d write more about it all, but I just don’t feel like I can do it justice right now.  Maybe we can talk about it later?  Would that be alright?  For now…I can show you a video and some pictures.  I’ve got 5 peaks left to finish all the ranked and unranked 14ers in Colorado.  I could not be more grateful for all the beautiful days Colorado has given me, and while seeking the 58 is on my mind…it’s about so much more than that.  It’s about the magic that comes along with the mountains and the hikes and the adventures.
A Few Non 14er adventures so far this year: the Incline (30times by May), Aiken Canyon (my secret running spot), Quail (13er), Lackawanna (13er), Hope (13er), San Juan “Something” day (Sunshine, Redcloud, then saddleblazed lower peaks back to LC), Round Top, Sopris, Sand Dunes, God’s Crag climbing adventures, my very own Tour de Prairie on a bike I stole from my friend (no brakes/no shifting gears), a few pony rides, and some other stuff I can’t remember right now
14ers this year: Quandary, Pikes, Sherman, Belford, Democrat, Cameron, Bross, Lincoln, Longs, Huron, La Plata, Princeton, Elbert, Castle, Conundrum, Yale, Shavano, Redcloud (twice), Sunshine (three times), Handies, Wetterhorn, Uncompahgre, Windom, Sunlight, Eolus, N. Eolus, Lindsey, Crestone Peak, Capitol (& K2-13er)
14ers I haven’t climbed yet: The Bells, Pyramid, Snowmass, and Culebra ($)…Who is coming with me?????????

Black Bart poem I found in a book when visiting my aunt and uncle in Moffat….it illustrated, pretty accurately, how I felt right around the time I took off on my strange series of adventures.
