Miles 69.2 – 164.7

Well, 2nd week was incredible. Passed into North Carolina, passed mile 100- no marker there. Had a few hard climbs up, including a rock scramble, but the vista’s from the tops are well worth the effort.
Broke my glass frames at the NOC, but have to keep moving! It’s all part of the adventure!
Have met so many nice people along the way, including an Australian family of a Mom, Dad, 6 1/2 year old girl and a 13 month old baby boy riding on his mom’s back. The girl kept pace with me for a few miles and was so talkative it was an absolute pleasure.
Had 5 days of beautiful weather until the las 2.5 miles into Fontana Dam yesterday when we encountered a downpour.
Passed through a rhododendron forest, but too early for the blooms. I bet in a few weeks they will look amazing.
Made it up over 5000′ for the first time on trail. Next up, in a couple of days is Clingman’s dome at 6658′
Happy trails
