My Gear + Food

These are the items I use daily on the trail. I’m 51 days in now and can pretty confidently say that I feel comfortable carrying each one of these items.

My Pack – Osprey Aura 50 ag
I removed the brain of the pack recently. I feel like this helps cut pack on unnecessary weight. There is a small hole in the front mesh stuff pocket from a mouse trying to get my trash. The shoulder straps irritate my shoulders at times but overall, great pack.

My Tent – REI half dome

Love this tent. I like being able to lay out all my gear inside, especially when it’s raining. It’s pretty cozy with two people plus Stretch. When I have visitors, our packs sit under the rain fly.

Ground cloth – Tyvek

Seems to keep the bottom of the tent dryer and weighs basically nothing.

Air Pad – Nemo Tensor

Super comfy and rolls up small.

Sleeping Bag – REI Radiant
It keeps me warm and was on sale when I bought it.

Trekking Poles – Kelty

They’re fine. Maybe a little heavy but they get the job done.

Stove – MSR stove

It’s a good small stove.

Pot – Stanley

Dog Harness and Leash – Ruffwear

I’m actually using a different harness now. The Ruffwear harness was rubbing his under arms raw.

Other items – Mushers Secret Paw Balm, Sunblock, Contact Solution, Dr Bronners Peppermint Soap, Hand Sanitizer, Wipes, Headlamp, Pepper Spray, Spoon, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Ibuprofen, Bandana, and Grandpa’s cup and hat

This is about 4/5 days of food. I don’t usually eat lunch. I snack throughout the day while walking. On a normal day I’ll eat –

Breakfast – Clif bar covered in peanut butter

Snack – Handfuls of trail mix, handfuls of gummy-bears, beef jerky, a snickers bar, a couple slim jims

Dinner – rice and beans pasta side and another snickers bar (last night I had two snickers bars)

I had a couple people ask me about my gear so I hope that helps! Thanks for reading. And if you have questions, let me know!

This was really cool to see laid out!

It’s neat to hear what’s changed too, as you learn what you do and do not need.
