The final evaluation!
Well, I have narrowed it down to this. Except my Mountainsmith trekking poles and my Chacos; I always forget something in the pictures.
Pack, unpack, pack, unpack.
I feel very confident with the gear I have chosen. I don’t question anything that I have anymore, except I have not chosen a rain poncho yet. Being still undecided, I am just going to grab one before we hit the trail. It is about ten days till we start, and I am getting more impatient by the day.
Clothing
Bottoms: Colombia hiking pants, LL Bean hiking skort, EMS Techwick leggings.
Tops: EMS Techwick T-shirt and tank top, Climate Base Layer long sleeve, Mountain Hardwear Micro Ratio Down Jacket, and of course a flannel (I can’t go without one).
Socks: I have four pairs of Smartwool PhD Hiking socks.
Shoes: Oboz mid height boot, and Chacos hiking sandal.
Randoms: Carhaart Hat, Cotton Undies, Packtowel Personal Towel, Therm-a-Rest Sit Pad, Petzl Tikkana Headlamp.
I believe I already went over my sleep system in another post. Enightened Equipment Revelation, Therm-a-Rest Zlite Pad, Nemo Pillow.
Cooking: Jetboil Flash, Sea to Summit Cup, Outdoor Research spork.
Tent: Alps Mountaineering Mystique 1.5.
Water filters: Sawyer and an MSR Trailshot. My water reservoir is a Gregory 3D Hydro 3L.
Backpack: Gregory Sage 55L.
That should be about it for me.
Sugaree
She never seems to run out of energy! Getting her to sit still is torture.
Sugaree has a Mountainsmith K-9 pack (which is amazing, but I cannot get her to stop eating the plastic buckles. I have sewn it twice. Lol.) and a Kona Leash, which I am a brand rep for. They use climbing rope and a caribiner, making the leash super lightweight, but strong. It was super hard to find a backpack for her because she’s tiny at a mere 32 pounds, but this one fits great.
With just a little bit of time left I am filling in the loose ends and making sure everything is as organized as I can get it. Cannot wait to get on the road to Georgia. Three days of work left and Sugaree and I will be off!
