On some Knob
17 May 2017
Why are we all in such a hurry. I know most of my adult life was sent hurrying from one place to another, one job to another, always the what’s next mentality.
On the AT I find myself doing it again. Racing from one location to another. This is NOT a race!
I have to keep reminding myself to stop and smell the roses or as a LtCol boss from USAFA ONCE said to me as I hurried to work one morning jumping flights of stairs in seconds — “Look up at the mountains!”
I’ve taken a short break and just realized the forest around me. The ants are working, the bugs are buzzing, the butterflies are busy flitting around and the trees are softly swaying in the afternoon breeze. Life just STOPPED for me in this moment of solitude.
Now it’s time to get back to hiking. Interlude is over.
