50 Miles of PCT Closed Between Snoqualmie Pass and Deception Pass Due to Three Queens Fire
As of Wednesday, approximately 50 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail have been closed by the US Forest Service due to a wildfire burning in the area. The affected section of the PCT is in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest between Snoqualmie Pass (Mile 2396.5) and Deception Pass (mile 2446).
Any access trails from the east in this section are also closed, according to the Pacific Crest Trail Association. The order will remain in place until October 31, 2026 “unless conditions allow modification sooner,” and law enforcement officers are actively enforcing the closure, according to a Forest Service press release.
The Three Queens Fire is burning around the north end of Kachess Lake. It started on July 15th and is at 3,600 acres and 0% containment as of this writing.
This closure comes amid a challenging fire season in the Pacific Northwest. It joins another major trail closure announced just a few weeks ago between Methow Pass (northbound mile 2604.5) and the Northern Terminus due to the Ptarmigan Fire.
Check the PCTA’s closure announcement for the Three Queens Fire for further updates, and track the status of the fire itself via Watch Duty.
