Emotions Rise and Fall Along with the Trail

May 19 to June 6

Days 45 to 64

Acton KOA to Walker Pass (Lake Isabella)

Kilometers 715.3 to 1049.3 (334 hiked)

Five zeros

A bunch of neros

It’s so difficult to describe what it’s like on the trail. Photos and quick descriptions just can’t capture how it feels or what I see. It’s up and down, fast and slow, hot and dry, cool and easy, heavy and light, happy and sad, frustrating and amazing. I want to quit every other day, but I don’t want to stop. I am elated and angry, tired and sore, yet my body gets up and carries on. I can’t believe what I’ve done and can’t imagine what’s still to come. For now, I’m just focused on putting on my pack, getting on the bus, and taking the next step toward Canada.
