Congratulations to these 2023 Pacific Crest Trail Thru-Hikers: Part 2

Covering a staggering 2,650 miles through three states, weaving through 26 national forests, and traversing seven national parks, a remarkable feat of determination and endurance unfolded as Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers journeyed from Mexico to Canada. At the onset of their adventure, reaching the northern terminus seemed nothing more than a distant aspiration. Along the way, they confronted a host of formidable challenges, multiple re-routes, and a host of mental challenges. Despite the obstacles, they remained resilient and overcome each challenge the trail threw their way.

I seem to start & finish all my trails way later than most…PCT ’93 May 22-Oct 16…The Mojave was hell in July but I wouldn’t want to cross Bear creek much earlier than we did in the High Sierra…or search for trail under snow over all those passes (Thanx to Gourmet Gals help; JMT was much more tolerable than had I tried it alone.). But it’s still easier than trying to do the CDT without a flip-flop. After thru-hiking the Alps, Pyrenees, Pennines, and Brisbane to Melbourne in Australia ( their Bicentennial National Trail would be like a PCT- length Mojave with crocodiles so don’t do it); right now adventurers are starting in Cairns & hopping from town to town on the SBd circuit by bus etc .. I finally realized there’s a lot of beautiful short trails that need doing out there. Maybe I’ll be thru snorkeling the Caribbean island by island one of these days. (Seriously many islands have full length trails so it could be thru hiked with short ferry & seaplane hops…just make sure you reach Barbados or further south by hurricane season!). Basta la vista!
