Dear PCT, Here I Come.

Who am I?

Well, my name is Andrew(trail name to come at future date). I am a 22 year old living life to the fullest in Seattle, Washington. You can find me hiking trails almost everyday in an attempt keep my wanderlust soul at bay. I am currently studying Pre-Nursing studies while working for an Emergency Medical Services company. Putting my dreams of higher medicine to rest for six months this year to hit the trails of the PCT and record the high’s and low’s of thru-hiking here on The Trek.

How did I decide to hike the PCT this summer?

Well the short answer, following my heart. The PCT has always been the elephant in the room. This November however, standing on a peak with a good friend watching the sunset, we started to discuss The PCT. I voiced that I wanted to attempt it sometime and he responded with, “Why not just go for it? Worst case, you leave the trail early.”. That was the push I needed and my mind was off to the races. Now here I am a month later and the scramble ensues. Get the permit, plan the food shipments, what about my apartment… so many questions and very few answers.

What drives me to hike the PCT?

There is no long list of reasons. Just one reason, I am searching for my direction in life. I know, I told you of my dreams of pursuing higher medicine, but in what capacity. Wilderness medic? Search and Rescue? Something else? However, in our busy society there is no time to sit back and reflect on life. Moving so fast that you can’t sit back and just reflect. I am taking my chance to disconnect from society and take time to find myself on the trail.

That’s all for now, BUT…

Give my blog a follow and join me on my epic journey prior to and onto the PCT, it will be worth your while! 🙂
