Destiny Calls!

Hiking Coyote Wall along the Columbia training for PCT

I’m doing it!!

As fate would have it, I’ve found myself among the few who’ve decided to embark on this adventure called… Trail. Though those I speak to offer their endless opinions, questions, and projected fears, I find myself feeling like this is destiny. With 2024 being the year of heartbreak and personal growth for me, I discovered The Pacific Crest Trail.

Seeing a PCT sign for the first time

Discovery

I walked from White River Sno Park in Mt. Hood National Forest, I walked along the PCT and made my way up to Timberline and experienced that for the first time. What a wonderful place I will say and I can’t wait to visit again this summer. After my hike, I went home and started my research on the PCT. I watched countless documentaries, daily vlogs, learned about so much gear! I firmly established my dream to walk the Pacific Crest Trail. I had made myself comfortable with the fact that I’ll likely have to wait until 2026, but I found out registration was OPEN. You best believe I applied. Anxiously awaiting, I got my date on the first release of permits. There it is, in my email “It’s getting real”.

PERMIT GETTING APPROVED WOOHOO!!!

Before The PCT

It’s time to get ready! How do I even begin. I will do a whole post dedicated to my preparedness and my resupply strategy, but for now I’ll say I’ve prepared more than I’ve prepared for anything in my life. The trail isn’t just about walking from Mexico to Canada. From what I’ve learned it’s so much more than that. I have not stepped foot at the Southern Terminus and I already feel the sense of what the trail has to offer. The support from past thru-hikers is unmatched to any other community out there! Just like those before me, I’m  eagerly awaiting the official start to my journey. I will say, my journey began the moment I decided to do the PCT! This has already been an adventure. From being nearly stuck in a snow storm, to getting heat exhaustion in the middle of October, to nearly freezing underneath the most incredibly sky scape I’ve ever seen. The challenges I’ve faced, have only driven me towards the trail.

Experiencing the majesty of Mt. Hood

Destiny Awaits

Today marks approximately 3 months until my start date. This is the time to set myself up for success. Take inspiration from others, learn the most I can, think of everything! It’s the things I never thought of that will happen! I believed I’ve fully set myself up for Day 1, Day 2? a complete mystery. I’m up for the adventure, I hope you follow along. Believe me when I say, this will be the most EPIC adventure you’ll ever see. Crunch time starts now! Gotta get to hikin’!
