List: East to West. Same but Different.

After learning a lot on the AT and having the opportunity to hop onto the PCT, I wanted to brainstorm and reflect. Some habits and goals will remain the same however others will change along the way.

I am thru-hiking the PCT because…

  • The thrill of the hike
  • Hoping to complete another thru-hike and possibly pursue a triple crown
  • Witness the changing landscape
  • Observe wildlife
  • Experience the changing seasons
  • The challenge

Changes I will make from the AT…

  • EAT MORE
  • Carry less weight
  • Know when to switch equipment
  • Stretch more frequently
  • Open up socially
  • Know when to replace shoes

What I will keep the same…

  • Chill and rest along the way
  • Forage when able
  • Flexible with mileage
  • Explore side trails
  • Share with family and friends
  • Eat well

I want to maintain the habits that allowed me to rest and feel relaxed along the hike. I hope to build confidence in my abilities to carry on solo for the long haul and meet others along the way. My mind is excited for the sights and sounds the trail will offer, and in the meantime I will use that excitement to prepare for hike. Final gear decisions have been made and I will offer that information soon along with clothing decisions.
