PCT Hiker Missing for Over 2 Months, Authorities Begin Search
Authorities are seeking information from the PCT community about a missing thru-hiker, identified as Robert Budinski, who was last seen on April 15 at the base of Black Mountain Road outside of Idyllwild, California.
Budinski goes by the trail name “Ambassador” and is an experienced thru-hiker traveling northbound on the PCT to attempt his third successful thru-hike of the trail, according to the Fowler-O’Sullivan Foundation.
Reports say Budinski was dropped off by a trail angel to rejoin the PCT around mile marker 190.7 below Fuller Ridge. He was expected to pick up a resupply box near section B I-10, but never retrieved or forwarded it. Budinski was reported missing yesterday.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is investigating Budinski’s disappearance in this evolving case and urges the PCT community to assist in providing any relevant information regarding sightings of Budinski after April 15.
Anyone who saw Budinski or has photos or information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office at 951-766-1099.
