PCT2023|About the hugs (Mount Laguna – 101mile, March 8th to 12th)

Because of the snow, it made me couldn’t keep hiking with Joe and David anymore(now I know they call themselves “the Codgers”), but it seems to bring the chance to let me meet Kira(Washington) and Arianna(Alaska).

Arianna & Kira

The day I arrived Mount Laguna was really a tough day for all the hikers, the snow almost reached to my bottom and hard to walk through. When most of the hikers I met on the trail hit to Mount Laguna, sat outside of the store exhaustedly, I couldn’t see David & Joe and worried about the their safety, then a trail angel showed up, he suggested if we needed a place to stay, he could take us to American Legion because there was no free room at Mount Laguna. When I tried to figure out how to do, Kira talked to me “ Come! You can come with us.” These words were so attractive to me and led me to follow the girls.

In that week, we did our first hitchhiking experience to Julian, the first free apple pie in Mom’s Pie House, the first yoga at the tent site, it’s so fun and relax to stay with them. And all of us didn’t want to go into Sierra too early so we decided to hike only 10 mile everyday.

When we went to Julian Cafe again for breakfast, I saw David & Joe sitting inside, so excited ??, I ran to their table and hugged, talked to each other what happened in these days. In the afternoon, the trail angel Raymond took me, Kira & Arianna to Stagecoach Trails RV taking a zero day, then back to the trail at the next day.

When we finished our hiking on that day, after setting up my tent, David & Joe showed up on the trail again! Before they leaving, Joe came to me and said “Let me hug you again, remember to text me wherever you are. Hope to hug you again on the trail.”
