Real Pants!
Seattle is such a cool city. I took it easy this morning, getting laundry done and catching up with some internet chores. We walked to the local coffee shop down the street for breakfast. I only ordered a drip coffee, but it was one of the best coffees I’ve had. Seattle knows what they’re doing.
My big objective for the day was to buy an outfit. I’ve been wearing the same clothes every single day for the last 5 months. I wanted to wear some real pants and a cotton shirt. We went to a store called Wonderland Gear Exchange in hopes that they may have some of the things on our list. I found the coolest pants from a climbing brand called Grimicci. I’m so happy to now own something other than faded, permanently stinky running shorts.
I was also looking for a new pair of shoes. Even though we only have 3 days left, I could see my socks when I walked through the giant holes in the tops of my shoes. It was time for new ones. Plus I could wear them after trail. Wonderland didn’t have any Altra Lone Peaks in my size, so our next stop was REI. As luck would have it, REI had the exact pair of shoes I was looking for in my size in the garage sale section. The tag said they were worn once, although they looked brand new, and they were over half off. Score! I also picked up some Good to Go backpacking meals to enjoy for our last two nights.
Our last stop was at Target to pick up the remaining items on my list. I got a cotton t shirt and some new toiletries like a full size toothbrush and a mini deodorant to use in town. I even got some curl gel to tame my frizzy hair in town. It felt so luxurious.
After a long day of shopping, we got dinner at Dick’s Drive In and went back to Drom’s to drop off our haul and get ready to meet up with the crew. Everyone was going over to Radio’s house to hang out for the night. Radio coincidentally lives a few blocks away from Drom. We walked over there and met up with Radio, Little Wagon, Rolodex, and Geezer. Shortly after us came Birdman, Posh Spice, Flash, and Bubbles who are all staying at Birdman’s house. Then after them came Pole Dancer, Buenas Noches, and Bear from their Airbnb. Even Chinchilla and Hole Sale stopped by before they leave Seattle to go home in a couple of days.
I have so much fun with this group. It was hard not to feel a little emotional thinking this could be one of the last times we’re together as a group like this. I’m going to make the most of every last moment.
