Animals have been super friendly lately. A groups of deer hung out near my tent the other night, a lizard played near me, and I waved to my first west coast bear. A skittish baby chipmunk ran away and I was saying, hey, why don’t you want to come on a walk?…then I started thinking that dinosaurs used to roam the earth. Even if I knew a brontosaurus wouldn’t eat me, I’d probably still run away if I saw one. Northern California looks like a great place for dinosaurs to roam. After my chipmunk experience I pictured dinosaurs lounging in the lakes and pterodactyls swooping overhead. Must have been a glorious time. I also thought about how much fun it would be to put a purse dog in some front pouch attachment to my pack. Has that been done before on the PCT? It’s been fun to look through the film I’ve shot through the Sierras after I strictly used the Sony A7Rii for the first 700 miles. This was from a few weeks ago when we crossed Revolution Creek. I waited for Rusty to come by so I could capture him crossing as I knew he was close behind me. Thankfully I only got bit by around 45 mosquitos in the process! ?? Switchbacks on the north side approach to Rock Pass. These switchbacks are long as they cut across this slope. The summer’s unsettled weather has improved as the sun starts to break through. One of my favortie parts of this trip so far is the abundance of water that’s in the Sierras.. I appreciate water so much more now getting it straight from the earth. Hiking in the desert with very limited water was beyond stressful. Constantly rationing water by not brushing your teeth for a few days, not cooking a hot meal to save water or taking small sips at a time.
