Part 1 Day 85 July 19 20 miles (32 km) | total miles 1134.5 (1815 km) Washington, I take back every bad thing I said about you. My complaints about the rain, cold and mosquitos were nothing. Today was a day that made it ALL worth while! I had been eagerly anticipating today- the Goat Rocks Wilderness and Knife’s edge in particular, and it exceeded all expectations! It helped the that it was a sunny bluebird of a day. The scenery was simply breathtaking. Clear views of Mount Rainier and Mount Adams and even Mount St Helen’s. After weeks of fog and clouds the visibility couldn’t have been better today. A highlight was seeing a huge herd of 40 mountain goats including many wee babies. The knife’s edge is a short alternate above the PCT (not safe for horses) that follows a mountain ridge up to Old Snowy Mountain. Made me a little nervous in spots, but completely worthwhile. I also was blown away by the beauty of the Cispus River Basin, where I stopped to soak my tired feet. So many photos to share, I will make 2 posts for today! #pct2019 #pctsobo #pctsobo2019 #thruhike #thruhiker #trekthepct #womenwhohike #pctig #wwhmember #pacificcresttrail #goatrockswilderness

A little over halfway through Oregon and the trail has been amazing! The mosquitoes not so much… I’ve pretty much lived inside a bug net for the last 8 days but the views I’ve seen and memories I’ve made have made the mosquitoes a little more bearable. One of the highlights of Oregon for me so far has been Crater Lake. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the US and home to the bluest water I have ever seen. @lnapier_ and I have been hiking 40+ miles everyday in Oregon and plan to do so until we reach the OR/WA border. So many people have asked why we are doing big mile days and we usually get something along the lines of, “you guys aren’t enjoying the trial going that fast” When in reality we are enjoying it even more. One of the reasons I came out on the PCT was to push myself mentally and physically and I can say that the I truly have. Hiking 40+ miles a day doesn’t mean I run down the trail as fast as I can but rather I wake up early and hike late. I take full advantage of the day instead of calling it a day by 6:00. By doing so I get to see so many amazing views that I wouldn’t get the chance to if I was already tucked in my sleeping bag fast asleep in my tent. Landen and I set a goal and now we are closer than ever to turning that goal into an accomplishment… so here’s to bigger mile days and bigger smiles! Washington see you soon..

Trail magic might imply food and drinks but the real magic lies in the people. Probably the most used statement in our generation is, I don’t care. In such careless times, knowing that someone out there is literally waiting for us to come by and provide not just freshly made delicious food and drinks but brief comfort with home-like feeling is truly striking. Can you believe that there are people out there who are willing to give and give but don’t expect anything in return? I know, that’s what magic looks like. So when @critternance Nancy and Hammond reached out to me few days back knowing I’m close to them and asked me to hangout at Ebbetts pass if I make it there a day before, I couldn’t say No. Not about food but I am learning all about this magic. So one day, I’ll become a magician too. Magic 101: Giving is a superpower. Day 80 – 81: 37.8 Total: 1081.9 miles

Day 76: Mile 238.1 – 259.5; 21.5 miles; 1,010.5 total PCT Miles Woke up around 3:30 am wide awake and freezing but didn’t really give a shit because we were 20 miles from town. As soon as we got up this morning it was Washington carwash 2.0. There was no rain today but it was freezing and kind of windy throughout the day. We spent a good bit of the day traversing rocky ridges which beat the shit out of our feet. By the time I was ten miles in I already felt like I had done a 25 mile day. The views today were absolutely stunning. After some lunch and ibuprofen we crushed the rest of the day and got to Snoqualmie Pass. We ate some bomb vegan curry, checked in to a hotel, did laundry and unwinded at the jacuzzi/sauna. Today included the entire spectrum of thruhiking; endless suck and absolute bliss in finding appreciation in the littlest things that we take for granted ❤️ • • • • #pct #pacificcresttrail #pct2019 #pctclassof2019 #pcta #pctig #ULAF #ultralightbackpacking #ultralight #ultralightasfuck #hikertrash #optoutside #mountainlaureldesigns #enlightenedequipment #zpacks #altrarunning #backpacking #thruhike #trekthepct #nature #california #mexicotocanada #thetrek #hiking #getoutside #adventure #hikerlife #mountains #traillife
