Podcast Editor Intern

We are looking for someone who’s passionate about audio production (i.e. editing) and loves the outdoors. The chosen candidate will get the opportunity to have their work exposed to tens of  thousands of people every month as part of one of the fastest growing media organizations in the outdoor industry.

THE INTERNSHIP

We are looking for a rock-star intern who would love mixing together audio recordings from thru-hikers for a new podcast series.  The ideal candidate will be proficient with some form of audio editing software. We have a great deal of content in the works for the coming year, your skills will be put to great use.

Simply put, the chosen candidate will received the opportunity to have their work featured on a highly respected outdoor website- recently recognized as the Top Hiking and Outdoor Blog by USA TODAY.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must be able to work at least 5 hours per week. Must have own computer and Internet access. This is a remote internship. The candidate has the option to work at the Golden, CO headquarters, but it is not required.

Additionally, the ideal candidate has:

  • At least 1-2 years experiences with professional audio editing software.
  • A portfolio of past work that we can evaluate.
  • A love for backpacking / hiking (not required, but definitely a bonus).

HISTORY

The Trek was born officially in 2012 under the name “Appalachian Trials”,  a book by an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker and the website’s editor-in-chief, Zach Davis. After the book’s success, AppalachianTrials.com became the blogging home to hundreds of other current and former thru-hikers. In 2016, the site rebranded as The Trek, and serves the long-distance backpacking headquarters for hundreds of thousands of readers each month.
