Still Heading North on the Appalachian Trail

Made it to Vermont!

I’m still trekking along out here. Made it into VT and excited to be up north where it’s much more scenic. Hats off to all the bloggers and YouTubers  that continue post during their thru hikes. I found out quick that blogging became a job and a chore I didn’t care to do. It’s just not what I came out here for.

1500 miles of highlights

Definitely wouldn’t be able to do this without all the support of my wife, Emy. She’s made several visits and has sent countless resupply boxes. We were even able to hike a section together from Front Royal, VA to Harpers Ferry, WV.

I’ve also been lucky enough to see other friends and family along the trail as well.

Got to stay with Mama Toni and Mike, near the NOC.  Then Nate, Steph and fam came up to visit.

In Hot Springs, NC a couple of buddies came out and we rented an Airbnb outside of town. They even drove me to Asheville, NC to continue my shoe journey.

In Blacksburg, VA I took a zero and was able to run errands while still trying to dial in my footwear. Karen, Rob, and fam let me crash at their place and took me out to dinner.

Intended on getting up to MacAffee Knob for before sunrise, but got into camp really late the night before and decided to sleep in.

While hiking the Font Royal section with Emy, Rob and another NOBO hiker named Primo; we got a visit from Nikki and Michael at Bear Chase Brewery.

This is the unofficial halfway point of the AT at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy HQ.  At the start in GA I was the 1,745th person to register and start the trail headed north bound. At the ATC HQ in Harpers Ferry I was number 1008.

Further north there’s a challenge where you eat a half gallon of ice cream for reaching the half way point on the AT. I polished it all off in 13 minutes.

Who knows when the next post will be, but I’ve got just under 600 to go! I try to post daily on the  IG page though.
