AYCE

Acronym for “all you can eat,” a phrase that will draw a thru-hiker to town like a siren draws a sailor.

Example: “I don’t really need a re-supply, but Awol says that Ming’s is AYCE so I’m getting off in Waynesboro.”

Fun Fact: In addition to or as part of AYCE deals, several establishments on the AT offer food challenges to hikers, including (but not limited to):

  • The Pancake Record and the Hot Wing Challenge at the Blue Blaze Cafe in Damascus, VA
  • The Half Gallon Challenge at the Appalachian Trail Museum in Pine Grove State Park, PA
  • The Summit Sundae Challenge at the AT Cafe in Millenocket, ME

Some of the many AYCE restaurants on the AT:

  • The Blue-Blaze Cafe in Damascus, VA
  • The Homeplace in Catawba, VA
  • Ming’s in Waynesboro, VA
  • The AT Cafe in Millenocket, ME
