HYOH (Hike Your Own Hike)

One of the AT’s most common phrases, which means anything from “to each his/her own” to “stay out of my business.”  At heart, don’t allow others prevent you from experiencing and enjoying your own unique journey.

HYOH beer in the prezzies

Hiking my own hike by toting a six pack up the Presidential Peaks, despite warnings that it would be too heavy. #Murrica

Example: ‘Some jerk told me I didn’t need a pocket-knife with 31 functions and I said, “Hike Your Own Hike.”’

Additional reading: Appalachian Trials writer Kenny Howell makes some great points about hiking your own hike without being an a**hole.
