Logbook

Not to be confused with TrailJournals, a logbook guest book of sorts, kept at the shelters, some campsites, and some trailheads along the AT, for all hikers to write entries. Also called a “register.”

Logbook 01

Example: “Mariposa, I’ve heard of you!  You’re the one who loses all those card games to Dune.  I saw the scores in the logbooks.”

Fun Fact: Some trail clubs, particularly the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club and the Appalachian Mountain Club, keep excellent records and have logbooks dating back for decades.
