apple podcasts backpacker radio

In the first episode of our new Trail Correspondents series, you met our Appalachian Trail hikers. Now it’s time to meet our Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail hikers.

This first episode introduces us to our Appalachian Trail hikers.  They are Rachael “Rabbit” DeLano, Miles Bisher (aka “Miles To Go”), Kate Emmons, Sarah Mowery, Lukas Isaacson, and Madeline Newel.

Get their full bios below.

Rachael “Rabbit” DeLano

Bio: I am an NYC event planner turned long-distance hiker and yoga instructor. In 2016 I gave up my corporate job to thru-hike the Appalachian trail. After that I was hooked, and decided to go for my triple crown in three years. I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2017, and will be hiking the Continental Divide Trail in 2018. My passions are rabbits, yoga, and all things outdoors. Find me at rabbithikes.com.

Miles “Miles To Go” Bisher

Bio: Hey there, I’m Miles, better known on the trail as “Miles To Go.” I’m a high school teacher from Maine, a PCT trail correspondent for Backpacker Radio, and a connoisseur of Little Debbie snacks on the trail. In 2013 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail with my fiancée, Flash Gordon, and now we’re hitting the PCT in 2018.

Kate Emmons

Bio: I grew up in Connecticut and moved to Boston five years ago to pursue a degree in Public Health. I’ve been working in the pharmaceutical industry and while living in the city I’ve transformed into a bit of a foodie and craft beer enthusiast. I love pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and therefore spend most of my time traveling, hiking, rock climbing, and planning future adventures.

Sarah Mowery

Bio: I’m a writer, photographer, yoga teacher, and Hobbit living in Dallas, Texas, by way of Little Rock, Ark. The mountains have called, so I’m answering with my first thru-hike attempt. I can’t wait to immerse myself in nature and start moving at the pace of a human, living for each moment and challenge, and meeting all the other folks who’ve dedicated a chunk of their lives to this epic adventure. In my spare time, I love cooking, rock climbing, reading, and going to see as much live music as possible with my friends.

Lukas Isaacson

Bio: Hi, my name is Lukas Isaacson, but my trail name is Buns. I played soccer in college, but now consider myself hiker trash after a little PCT holiday in 2017. I’m teaching myself the uke, which I haven’t decided whether or not to bring with me on trail. Headed NOBO on the PCT.

Madeline Newel

Bio: Madeline Newel starts her northbound journey on the Pacific Crest Trail in mid-April. She recently finished her undergraduate degree from New York University in Political Development and Environmental Studies, but she doesn’t know what to do with it yet and wishes that people would stop asking.
