Day 135: 1650.7, today we put in a really rough, muddy 21 miles after a 5:30am wake-up call from a bear dragging our packs across camp ?? || The miles seem to be getting longer and the days seem to be never-ending recently. We’ve definitely been in a mental funk the past couple of weeks, but as the summits keep getting higher and the views continue to increase in grandeur, we find ourselves starting to swoon over the Trail once again. Today we summited Stratton Mountain, the very summit where Benton MacKaye dreamt up the idea of the Appalachian Trail, and were overwhelmed with how romantic it was. To be standing in the spot where a dream was born, knowing that that very dream morphed into reality, then manifested a dream inside of you that you are now making a reality…unreal. Thankful for these steps, every muddy last one of them, both literal and philosophical.
