My trail name is Magic, in 2021 I walked away from my ordinary life to thru-hiked the AT. Shortly after completing my first long-distance trail, I realized I would no longer be content working a traditional job, so I packed my bags and moved to east TN. I now work as a professional hiking/backpacking guide in the GSMNP. In 2023 I plan to thru hike the Arizona Trail. When I’m not on the trail, I enjoy writing and practicing yoga. Check out my personal blog, Magic in the Mountains, to read my AT trail journals along with other outdoor adventure musings.

Jennifer Pharr Davis’s 350-Mile Appalachian High Route is a Peak Bagger’s Dream
So what do 350 miles of “new” trail look like? The Appalachian High Route is unique because a majority of the route follows preexisting trails. When asked how the Appalachian High Route compares to other trails she’s hiked, Jennifer said “it’s definitely a highlight reel of some of my favorite stretches of the AT and MST. It’s similar in distance to the Pinhoti and Benton MacKaye, but it’s a higher elevation trail with peak bagging access and great trail towns. Loops also tend to be easier logistically.”
