Web Designer (Hourly)

The Trek, a media company dedicated to long-distance backpackers, is seeking a skilled and creative Web Designer to join our team of trail enthusiasts.

As a Web Designer, you will be responsible for creating visually appealing, user-friendly, and functional website templates and features that align with our brand identity and cater to the needs of our target audience. Your designs will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall user experience and driving engagement on our platform.

Responsibilities:

– Collaborate with the marketing and development teams to understand project requirements, objectives, and target audience.
– Design and develop a visually compelling and user-friendly website that reflects The Trek’s brand identity and enhances user engagement.
– Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts and gather feedback.
– Develop responsive designs that ensure seamless user experiences across various devices and screen sizes.
– Incorporate user-centered design principles and best practices to optimize website usability and accessibility.
– Utilize industry-standard design tools and technologies to implement designs and ensure compatibility with web standards.
– Work closely with the development team to provide design assets, style guides, and specifications for efficient implementation.
– Conduct thorough testing of website designs to identify and resolve any usability or functionality issues.
– Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and techniques, and apply them to enhance the visual appeal and functionality of our websites.

Qualifications:

– Proven experience as a Web Designer or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and previous web design projects.
– Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Sketch.
– Proficiency in using web app design tools such as Figma, or something similar.
– Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, responsive design, and web accessibility standards.
– Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to effectively communicate with developers and implement designs.
– Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and experience working with WordPress is a plus.
– Excellent attention to detail and the ability to translate concepts into visually appealing designs.
– Effective communication and collaboration skills to work within a cross-functional team environment.
– Time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
– Passion for backpacking and thru-hiking is a plus!

Compensation:

This role pays $50 per hour.
