Colorado Trail, Here We Go!

Let’s Get Out There!

It’s time to get out on the trail. Months of planning and years of dreaming have led me to this point, and I’m nervous. It’s time to see what I’m made of.

At Waterton Canyon

Waterton Canyon is beautiful, and a deceptively easy start to the CT. You follow a gravel access road half way through segment 1, with about zero elevation gain and loss. So when you leave the road and have to begin climbing up the actual singletrack, it’s a bit like a slap in the face.

The river winds and flows through the canyon, rushing and foaming over the many aqueducts, dams, and water control infrastructure.

From Waterton, the trail continues up on a big climb into the foothills, culminating in a nice overlook to show you how far you’ve come:

Segment 1 is so beautiful, and gets me so excited for what’s to come. That’s all for now, but be on the lookout for more updates soon!
