Days 5-10 Glasgow to Staunton/ Waynesboro

Hi everyone
Last week did a Nero into Glasgow and stayed at Stanimals. It was packed. I think there were 22 or so hikers overnight.
Tuesday, April 30 was a beautiful day and after getting dropped back off by the trailhead we hiked 20 miles. This was Bootlips’s first 20!
May 1st this year was completely different than last year. Another sunny day. Hiked 15.8 with thousands of feet of elevation gain. Stayed at Seeley-Woodworth shelter. Hummingbird Guru wasn’t feeling too good today so we took it easy.
Thursday we again had a long hard climb in the morning and then multiple gains and givebacks in the afternoon. Hiked 14.2 miles and saw a couple of nice vistas.
We left a big 2000’ ascent for Friday morning. We continued along after this and totaled 22.2 miles on a long day. Stayed at a beautiful shelter site called Paul C Wolfe shelter. Tented and got rained on but this only left us 4.9 miles to town on Saturday morning.
Saturday we came into Staunton and took our first zero day on Sunday. 9 days of hiking with quite a few tough climbs convinced us to take a day off.
Have met a bunch of great people. And some of the vistas have been stunning. Had a couple of well timed trail magic encounters including one lunchtime meeting with the famous Coffee Grinds. What a spread he puts out! If you’re lucky enough to encounter him, you’ll really enjoy his hospitality!
Next up is the Shenandoah National Park
Really looking forward to seeing that. Happy birthday my love! I miss you and wish we were together
Just remember you have a fat heart and that’s what matters.
