Exclusive Trek Giveaway! Win an Osprey Exos 58 with Afletik
Afletik (formerly Amplefind) is part of a new trend of curated online shopping you might be familiar with. They hand select thousands of items within the sporting and outdoors industry, from essentially every store and brand you can conceive of. Ideally, this eliminates the need for consumers to scour the depths of the web…. pretty much anything you’re looking for will be right there on the site. The items aren’t randomly selected either—the sporting goods on Afletik are only the items with the best consumer reviews.
Getting the site off the ground didn’t come easily. Afletik founder Nick Zamanov lived out of his Volkswagen Jetta in San Fransisco for nearly six months to fund his online shopping platform. The idea came to him after a friend had trouble buying soccer gear, and realized there was no specific online sporting-goods outlet where all the items could be found. He pared his expenses down to $200 a month for the six months it took him to code and launch the site.
This is a relatively new business model—Afletik has only been around since 2015. Currently, they maintain around 500,000 products for sale at any given time, including backpacking gear from favorite brands like MSR, Marmot, Kelty, NEMO, Osprey, Sawyer, Gregory, Western Mountaineering, REI, and more. Users can peruse and sort the selections based on price, material, weight, brand, and more.
The Giveaway!
Afletik is doing an exclusive giveaway for Trek readers, and one lucky backpacker will take home an Osprey Exos 58.

Thanks for the opportunity. I’m looking to do a through hike in 2019 and my fathers 7lb external frame backpack is just not going to cut it. This was the exact pact I was looking at.
Planning to thru hike the PCT with my sister in 2019 this pack would be a blessing!! First place I’d take it is into my “backyard” the Olympic Mountains!
So I can keep up with my teenagers on our next hiking adventure. While they carry most of the gear in my old too large too heavy pack. We’ll be doing a circuit around Dolly Sods this summer.
I would love to have this pack! This is perfect for me, because I want to yo-yo or SOBO the AT (I haven’t yet decided). This is in my weight range, volume range, and I think it would be perfect for me. I am planning on going lightweight, and going with a dog and a friend. I think this pack looks perfect! Lightweight, durable, and it has a lot of the things I’m looking for.
Oh the adventure! a fresh pack, oh i can only dream…. back to reality now! i am planning a long trail thru this coming July. to leave my old osprey pack at home would be a little like leaving an old friend. but while it holds pleanty of lifes best memories, it has a hard time holding my gear and enough food to fuel my inner hot dog eating contestant. i can now imagine myself bounding down the trail with a flashy pack like this feeling like Mr. Hiker, but the reality would be much different as i slog through that good new ver-mud. either way getting miles of trail behind me wont require a new pack, but will make them more enjoyable (and help blow up my instagram-just kidding… but i would try). other dreams of mine are a NH direttissima, the John Muir Trail, and of course the AT and PCT. those longer ones may be on the same pace as my 401K tho. that last sentence made me feel so old. so ship it straight to my door and it will travel Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine in all their glorious, muddy, rock hopping and ankle breaking rooted goodness. the Green and White mountains are calling, and i have to answer before Pamola burries me under Katahdin!
whelp, todays workplace productivity has gone out the window… all this wanderlusting!!!
This pack would be great for my long trail by hike
Currently living on the streets in Central Florida so I can save money to hike the Appalachian Trail in 2018 or 2019 depending on how fast I’m able to acquire gear. (I do have a mailing address if I win.) I’m thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail to prove to myself I can overcome both borderline personality disorder and asperger’s syndrome that I have been diagnosed with and am having to battle alone. I have been eyeing this pack and just got fitted for a large at our new REI store that opened last month. It would be the perfect addition to my hike!
Where would it take it? Just about everywhere!!! Picking up my daughter from summer camp in about a month and a multi-day AT backpacking trip is in the forecast for the whole family. Then just a father/daughter trip in the fall.
Just bought both my son and daughter their own packs, now that they are old enough to start carrying (most) of their own weight – so the big 95L pack should no longer be necessary. No more sherpa dad for this guy!
It would certainly be nice to be able to lighten the load a little (a lot). Have been looking at and would love to have the Exos 58. My back and knees would be most thankful as well.
I’ve been gearing up to thru-hike the 300 mile Superior Hiking Trail along Lake Superior in Northern Minnesota this August, and I’ve been eyeing an ultralight pack to replace my big 70L pack, and this one is at the top of my list. I came to the website looking to see if they had any trail diaries on the SHT and thinking I might be able to add my own. I’ve gotten by doing section hikes and long weekends with my heavier bag, but being able to upgrade to this baby would take quite the load off!
I’m gearing up for an AT thru-hike, and although I’ve had Osprey packs in the past, I’ve not bought a new one since they started caring as much as I do about base weight. I’d love to give this one a try and see if it lives up to the hype!
I’d use it to take a quick trip to Linville Gorge with my daughter this summer.
I would take it out on the Knobstone trail as my run-up to longer hiking adventures. This is used as a close by training ground in Indiana
WOW! I would take it on a AT thru-hike, I’m planning on 2018 – fingers crossed.
I love backpacking. I’ve only ever rented packs before, but I love the Osprey Exos! Owning this pack would let me go on more adventures.
I’d take it up Bukhansan if it showed up here where I’m stationed right now in S. Korea. Once I retire from the Army I’m hitting the AT as a gift to myself and I’ve turned into a gear nerd in preparation for that. Thanks again for the giveaway and for your business. I can’t wait to dig into your site and continue my research.
I like the color. Oh yeah and AT thru!
Green is my favorite color! Planning my trip to hike across England in 2018. Going to do Wainwright’s Coast to Coast.
I would take this pack on my 2018 thru-hike of the AT!! I’ve own a heavier Osprey Aether pack and have always loved it, but am now looking for a more light weight pack for my AT Thru-hike commencing March 2018.
I want this pack because I already have a smaller Osprey which I LOVE, but I need a bigger one for longer section hikes and an eventual thru-hike. I’d definitely be taking it on the AT, and the first place would probably be Shenandoah National Park because that’s my next planned big hike.
I’ve been looking at this pack to join my boyfriend on his next section hike of the AT…and hoping to thru hike the PCT together once my kids are out of school in a few years!
The older I get, my knees and body appreciate lighter weight gear. I plan on putting in some miles this summer on the GA/NC portion of the AT with my 11 year old son for his first backpacking trip and this great pack fits the bill. So many great reviews and just the right weight. Happy hiking!
My assistant turned me on to books about the AT. All winter I plowed through one right after another. All I need to complete my gear list is a backpack and a retirement date. Planning an adventure of a lifetime in my old age!
Very well designed.. exactly what I’m looking for with work-up hikes and then an A/T thru-hike in 2 yrs…
id take it metal detecting and hiking i want it cause it would work for me and looks comfortable
At one point I had the Exos, but sadly I no longer have this fantastic pack. It’s been one of my favorite packs and I’ve been looking into getting another for quite some time, so it would be a huge help to win this one. If selected I’d take it on a John Muir Trail Thru Hike, a Pacific Crest Trail thru hike, and a thru hike of the Laugavegur Trail in Iceland. The Iceland trip will be happening this summer and the other two will be coming up in the next few years for me. What an awesome opportunity.
My girlfriend and I are going to hike the AT in a couple of years. I’d love to use this pack!
I have always loved to hike, but only recently realized I need to backpack and get my feet wet by spending a night in the outdoors. My husband backpacked a lot before we got married and I think I’m ready to take the plunge. After reviewing lots of gear this bag really stood out to me and I love osprey. If I get this bag we are planning to take it back to the Sierras and complete our goal to hike 50 miles and see some of the best alpine lakes around. I’m super excited to challenge myself and begin to do more of what I know will make me peaceful and happy.
I already have a daypack Osprey and love the quality and design. The Exos would come very handy when my son and I go backpacking in Snowdonia this summer.
I have been backpacking for many years and would love a new pack! This design and weight are an ideal combination for hiking on the AT!
I plan to to thru hike the AT in 2018! I hike with camera gear, so a lightweight, but sturdy pack is a necessity! This pack would surely see the trail this summer as well; all over the White Mountains. Life beyond the AT might include the JMT or even the PCT! This pack would see a lot of spectacular mountains! Thanks!
Would love it and I will use it to section hike across the AT.
Wow. To win this dream pack would be awesome. I would bring this on the following trails over the next 13 years as I am now on my retirement from 34 years of service to the miliary. Now I will walk to every corner of the North American Continant with a smile on my face.
2017 IAT Quebec Section (1month)
2018 Appalation Trail (5 months)
2019 Bruce Trail (1.5 months)
2020 Continental Divide Trail
2022 Pacific Crest Trail (5 months)
2024 CT ( all 3 non stop) (14 months)
2026 The Great Trail (8-9 months)
2028 IAT (4months)
2029 AT Sobo
2030 AT Flip
I am also hiking because I have been diagnosed with FTD and PTSD. This will give me the time to explore every corner of North America. Got my head knocked around more than a couple of times from serving in Afghanistan, Yugoslavia and the west coast fleet. So yah, hiking until I am able to Mentally able too. The side affect is I am nicer person than before if you can believe that. I talk to strangers like they were my best friends and that is not good. Oh well. That is why I turned to hiking.
I’m 65 years old. I going to do my very first hick. I going to thru hick the Appalachian Trail. March of 2018. I have researched Osprey’s equipment it is the best. Every hiker would love to own a Osprey backpack. Thank You
Donald Wiegand
My daughter and I have a trip planned in August to hike the first 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail NB. We are so excited! My daughter doesn’t have a pack yet, and winning this would be awesome!
I’d use the Osprey to section hike the NCT
I’ll keep it simple and sweet. I’d use it as my pack for my AT NOBO in march 2018. Thanks for the giveaway.
My wife has been backpacking twice (with borrowed equipment), and I’d like to win this pack to give to her so we can start backpacking more together. She says she has never slept so well than in the tent on our backpacking trips!!
I would use this pack a my main hiking pack for years to come starting next year on the A.T and ending on the C.D.T
I need one because as of September of this year I’ll be hitting the trails and the roads of America for the rest of my life. Not just a few months, not a through hike, not a camping trip, for the rest of my life a backpack will contain all I own.
Im dying for an osprey pack. I am section hiking the AT and am starting the PCT via John Muir later this year. I’m taking it straight to roan highlands for a week, maybe Fontana dam to ???
I like the looks of the pack and the commitment it took to start the curated website. I don’t always go with the crowd on products but I have always looked at ratings and reviews when buying for a purpose. I would purpose the Osprey Exos 58 as my primary pack for camping and head for the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas, a place I have long wanted to explore.
Pretty simple. Who wouldn’t want one of the most highly rated backpacks in the market?
My husband and I are hiking the AT for our 40th wedding anniversary. It will be our first, but not last, backpacking adventure. The Osprey Exos 58 is the backpack I am wanting for this, and other adventures.
I had this pack during my 2016 AT SOBO Thru-Hike Attempt and I loved it for all its features and the fit. I would love to have this pack again.
I sure could use a lighter pack!
I would love this pack. I am planning a thru hike of the AT as a charity walk to raise money for an anti-human trafficking NGO in northern Thailand called Friends of Thai Daughters. A free pack would help me afford the gear I will need. Thank you for your consideration!
I’d take this all over North Manitou Island for an exploration of the old farmsteads on the island, and a search for the missing locomotive rumored to still be around somewhere.
I am working some short miles building up my distance and this pack would help me achieve ultimate goal of hiking the AT. ?????
I am currently just south of Harper’s ferry on my nobo AT thru attempt. I have been carrying a jansport 80L that has seen its fair share of miles and is slowly falling apart. I have resorted to buying various hardware (e.g. quick links) to try to keep the straps from slipping, and I cut up part of my foam sleeping pad to add padding to the back! I would love to upgrade (and downsize) my pack, but currently all of my funds are going toward food. Also, I’m becoming wary of the fact that there may not be enough Bordeaux’s butt paste in the world (pictures of the chaffing available on request–though not recommended). Winning this pack would be an amazing gift, and I cannot express how excited I would be to have you ship it to the trail! Happy trails!
This pack has great reviews and I would love to have one. I’m planning some sections hikes on both the North Carolina Mountains to Sea Trail and the Appalachian Trail this year. This pack would be perfect.
Thanks,
What an awesome opportunity! I have so many memories of seeing this pack zip past me during my section hike of the first hundred miles of the Long Trail. Now I would love to cruise down the trail as I finish the last section of the LT, and onward to the AT in 2018!
Let’s see… currently section hiking the AT… but I have been bit hard by the backpacking bug… I want to hike EVERYWHERE!!!!
I would use it for the AT thru-hike I’m planning for 2018!
2017 marks the year that I officially started to dream up my thru-hike of the PCT. I I would love to win this pack to take it with me when I start in the next few years.
Wow that’s a nice pack I’m going to be hiking the Colorado trail in 2018 just finished a section hike of the Appalachian trail my old pack is no good so I love to get a New one thanks B
I’m looking to do several long hikes before my time is up. I currently have an Osprey & love the pack but it is suitable for shorter hikes only. It is the MOST comfortable pack for a 64 year old woman with two rare heart diseases, a new pacemaker, little strength, a short time BUT LOTS OF HEART & DESIRES.
I recently did a 60 mile walk and the lightweight Osprey with its ample pockets, superb hipbelt fit and mesh pockets certainly made that “Bucket List” Dream Come True without struggling with a heavier pack.
My training is here in Montana, so I will be doing the PNT ( begins in GNP) in early 2018 and 100-200 miles of the AT the same year. The AT has always been my desire but realitucally must do it in Sections for health reasons. However, My Bucket List is getting shorter!
Life is short and you need to get in as much outdoor time as you can! For me, my Life is For Living.
Thanks for the opportunity to put my name in your hat. Great website with a lot of great products for me: a skier, bicyclist, hiker, snowshoer, rollerblader and everything outdoors.
Sandra gets my vote for the new pack!!
Planning an AT thru hike during my first year of retirement. Excellent pack for the adventure.
I convinced my boyfriend to buy this pack and now I’m super jealous carrying my old heavy pack. We’re in the middle of section hiking the NPT and I’d love to try it out there. This pack has definitely made a big difference in his hiking and I’m wondering how much it could help me!
My son and I want to hike rim to rim of the Grand Canyon in April next year. He needs a new pack for sure as he’s grown too big for his old one.
I will use this backpack for my 2020 AT hike and the shorter hikes leading up to it.
Planning to thruhike the PCT next Summer!
I would be taking the pack with me in the High Sierra Trail connected to a northbound trek on the JMT in the middle of August when I am going. It would also come in handy for multi day trail maintenance projects I do for the PCTA!! Looking forward to browsing the online store for my gear!.
I want this exact pack for the PCT in 2018 where I will celebrate my 70th year on this planet!
We are wanting to celebrate our anniversary on the AT. My wife has never done more than day hikes. I have hiked years ago. After research, we found this pack is the best. It would be perfect.
I bought the Osprey Talon 44 last year and I absolutely love it for big day hikes or up to 2 nights backpacking. I would like a pack that I could take for a week long trip to the Sierra’s or anywhere else in the USA! I currently have a backpacking trip planned in Yosemite at the end of July, so this pack would be perfect for all my gear (instead of trying to squeeze it in my Talon 44)! I love the colors too!!
I love my osprey pack and would LOVE to have a larger one also for overnight trips. If I win this pack, I will take it to the top of Mt. Washington for it’s first summit!!! Go big or go home…..:)
When I broke my back snowboarding in France four years ago, my physiotherapist told me I’d never be able to carry a backpack again. I’ve proven her wrong! If I won this pack, I’d use it for my endless adventures as a travel writer, and write about it on my blog, aroundtheworldwithalison.com
Thanks for such a great idea, and making dreams become goals.
I love to backpack on the AT. I would start with a warm up trip in Ocala national forest to hidden pond.
Thanks for the great opportunity to win this pack. I am really trying to lighten my load and the next item on the list is a new pack. This one will shave almost 2 pounds off of my base weight the next time I hit the AT.
I would love to take it on the Teton Crest Trail this summer in the Tetons and then on to the PCT next year!!!!! 🙂
I LOVE Osprey packs and have been wanting to try out the Exos as an alternative to my wonderful-but-heavy Aura AG. Planning to finish up the Appalachain Trail (750 miles) over the next couple years and possibly hit the Colorado Trail or Wonderland Trail next summer.
I could use the heck out of the super lightweight pack. It’s been a rough winter by Oregon standards. Once our Mt Hood shed’s that pesky snow I would take the Osprey Exos 58 out for a spin.
Hello and thank you for the chance to win this pack. My wife and I are taking a “year of us” starting with a 2019 Appalachian Trail through hike. I have used Osprey packs and love them. However, I will need a new pack for the through hike. This would be the perfect pack for me. We plan on making memories that will last forever and easily believe it is worth the year off. You have a chance to live with our memories if we win the Pack.
Many thanks,
Jon
I would love to use the Osprey backpack on my adventure. I have wanted to hike part of the Colorado Trail and hooking on at Molas Pass. This win would be great
I love seeing new entrepreneurs make it!!! Go Nick and Afletik! I would love to spread the word with my new Osprey pack as I hike the the triple crown.
I need this pack, because it is hard to fit more than 4 days of gear and food in the 45L pack I have now. I would take it straight out to the AT. Gotta break 500 miles this year!
I would love to try an Osprey pack and this one would be a dandy accompaniment for the Northville Placid Trail as well as a trek through the 100 Mile Wilderness in Maine!
This pack is the perfect size!
After my previous thru hike along the AT I’ve learned a great deal about what I actually need to carry and have since lightened my load so I’ll no longer will be carrying 38lbs!
I would love to take it along the Florida Trail but if I were to win and find it on my doorstep I would donate it.
I’m a member of the Boy Scouts of America and of the Epilepsy Association of Central Florida and I know quite a few youngsters who would absolutely cherish it. I’m epileptic myself and after my thru hike last year and my lash the previous, it has been really amazing inspiring the younger generation. It’s truly incredible seeing these young epileptic children experience the outdoors and see their faces light up as they set up tents for the first time and learn how to make a campfire. It’s truly incredible!
So if I were chosen, I would give the pack to one of these children. I’m hoping to inspire a few them to take on the challenge of completing a thru hike one day!
There are so many epileptics out there that are afraid to follow their dreams or simply don’t believe that they can, and after completing my thru hike and discovering what I was truly capable of, I vow to change that.
We’re all capable of accomplishing our dreams, as long as we work together!
I could really use this pack because my old pack is falling apart at the seams and I’ve had my eye on the exos for some time. I’d be using it backpacking around the whites. Also finishing up the New England 4000 footers, only have a few left in Vermont and Maine
It would be awesome to win this pack. I would use it to finish up the remaining parts of North Carolina’s Mountain to Sea Trail. Hopefully one of my kids could get some time off work to join me again.
Good pack of a 2018 AT Thru-Hike.
I’d love to use this pack on an AT thru!
First…how did I not know about this company before?? Excited!
Secondly, I will receive this right at my very front door, load it up, and off I go to trek the Camino de Santiago. I have been trying to get there with my younger son since 2012. One setback after another has put that on hold – my husband came down with a devastating illness right before we were due to go in 2013 and it took me a year to get him thru that. We then had our sights set for September 2016…until I tore my meniscus in two places in August 2015 and my son was diagnosed with cancer in November of the same year. We both spent all of 2016 healing up together and talking about The Camino…realizing that all of the “setbacks” were really just the start of the journey to getting there. When we both get to place our first footfalls on that path in Saint Jean Pied du Port heading into the Pyrenees there will be such tears of gratitude. We would love to have Osprey join us for that moment.
I just finished my first year of medical school and have been picking up random pieces of gear all year. First trip out will be to the AT in Virginia. I love some Osprey, and all I’m lacking is a backpack!
I’m planning a trip to the Sierra Nevada’s to place my husbands ashes in what he called “the most beautiful place he had ever seen”. I would give this pack to my friend who will be accompanying me. She is just starting to collect gear for our adventure.
Hi. I’d be using this to do the Benton McKaye trail starting at Springer Mountain. Also section hiking the AT. I’ve done much of Georgia and need to start heading up north next. This would be the perfect pack! Thanks!
I’d take it on the Appalachian Trail and the Camino de Francesco.
To expand on my previous post, I am planning to thru hike the AT for charity, to raise money for an anti-human trafficking NGO in northern Thailand called Friends of Thai Daughters (www.friendsofthaidaughters.org). This NGO targets at-risk girls (poverty, orphans, parents in jail, families selling drugs, villages known to sell girls into trafficking, etc.) in northern Thailand, getting to them before the traffickers do. They bring these girls to live in a safe house and send them to school all the way up through university, all 100% for free. My thru hike will be to raise money for this organization and your backpack will help me to get started on my self-funded gear purchases. Thank you for your consideration!!!
Well, I’ve done the research for about 2years and slowly collected my hiking gear, Osprey is a great brand and I would be honored to use the pack to accomplish my bucket list item of section-hiking the AT and Ice Age Trail! Im from the Midwest where I live it’s flat lands I know that Osprey is the best pack! Thanks for your consideration!
I’d take it section hiking on the AT
I’d love to take this on the Colorado Trail this summer, and eventually on an AT thru!
If I were to win this pack, it would absolutely be making its way to a thru hike of the AT. After a lot of research, I’ve settled on the Exos as my ideal bag. I haven’t yet saved enough for the purchase so this giveaway definitely caught my attention. I’ve spent years gathering the gear required for an attempt and this would be a godsend. Thank you for the opportunity!
I live in Florida.. It’s hot. I need a lightweight pack that has good ventilation and comfortable. Ship this to me and I will take it from the Eastern Continental Trail to section hiking on the AT.
would love to try this to explore the white mountains of New Hampshire – I think my son would borrow it also
My old Kelty Tioga just is not cutting the comfort zone…Hope to win the Exos for my trek along the John Muir trails… 😉
If I were to win….
Straight to the AT for me! My Wife, brother, his wife and I have started Section hiking the AT near us in PA to start.
If I were to win…..it would be used Often on the AT and other trail my wife and kids and I would trek!
Looking to do the whites to finish my 6 yr section hike of the AT.
I would use it for my John Muir Trail hike and my AT hike.
I’d hit the Skyway Loop Trail in Talladega NF followed by the Art Loeb Trail in Pisgah NF.
Gathering gear and training for upcoming through-hike (AT, PCT) and Osprey is on the list…. also like the idea of a new site to research and order gear….
I’m medically separating from the U.S. Army in a couple months and plan to thru-hike the AT in hopes of helping my mental, physical, spiritual and emotional transition from active duty to civilian life and I could use a really great pack that helps level out weight!
Would love more than anything to get this amazing back pack from this give away. It’s a must have for my ultralight thru-hike kit. Thank you for the opportunity.
This pack would be a perfect size for my updated gear and I love its features and weight. I’d take this backpacking on the AT.
Thanks Trek and Afletik for the giveaway.
I already have a pack, but I would love to give this one to my new step-son. I’ve lucked out that we’ve really bonded over camping and backpacking, and this would be a great way for us to expand into longer trips together (we’re only a few hours drive from Springer Mtn). Thanks again.
My only bag back I used for all my school work and hikes, is damaged and not useful. Now looking for another one but couldn’t find one yet. I would take it to Iceland for my next trip due in Fall. This bag is enough for all your belongings, no check-ins.
Oh gosh, this bag so awesome, if allowed I would take it to heaven too.
I need a new pack as mine’s pretty old and hefty:(. I would take the Exos 58 on the Dobson trail in NB, Chignecto in NS and FootPath in NB. I’ll pay for shipping to Canada
First, I LOVE Osprey packs but I don’t have anything larger scaled yet, if I had this pack it would allow me to have enough room for my gear for a hike through the Whites to Kahtadin in ME. I cant comitt to a larger thru hike (parental duties) but even my little comes with me on many hikes.
Thank you for your consideration 🙂
Perfect pack for a section hike through Pennsylvania!
Looking forward to finally attaining a 41 year goal of hiking the AT in 2018. This will go a long way toward accomplishing that goal.
Awesome idea for a site, I am really excited to start using it! I currently have 700 miles of the AT under my belt, and if I won, I would use the pack to hopefully LASH out the rest of the trail next year! However, I will break in the pack by going on my upcoming trek across Alberta and British Columbia, Canada (through both Banff and Yoho national parks!)
My sister would also benefit by getting handed down my current pack which is much, much heavier than the Exos, but will hopefully help her get started with backpacking!
I would love to win this pack so I can go out on my first overnight backpacking trip on the AT. I’ve gone on some day hikes in my area, but never an extended or overnight backpacking trip.
Would love to have an Osprey Exos 58. I’m pretty new at hiking and right now I have a cheep pack I got on Amazon.
Would take this with me on my N. GA trip this fall to hike some of the AT.
My wife and I have been talking about section hiking the AT since we cannot take off long enough to thru-hike. The Osprey Exos 58 seems like a very comfortable piece of gear when I tried it on in Houston several months ago and that would be the pack to go with on the AT and even some local trails here in Louisiana in the Kisatchie National Forest and Sam Houston Jones State Park.
I would love to have this Osprey Exos 58 for my AT thru hike in 2018 or 2019. Would also enjoy it on the Florida trail this fall.
This pack will be bringing me all the way from Georgia to my home state Maine on my NOBO trek next spring!
What a thrill to be in a drawing for this bad boy! My hubby and I did a (near) thru-hike of the AT in 2016 – with just a couple hundred miles to fill in. We are planning to go back to do a thru-hike next year as we are saving up right now. We are still debating if we would like to re-do the AT, or try a different trail like the PCT or Camino de Santiago. We do know one thing for sure: We want to go lighter. Winning this pack would be the icing on top of the planning for our next adventure!
Actually, I would give this backpack to my daughter who lives in the mountains of Honduras and works with economic orphans. She walks, in the heat, on dirt roads to visit the families and bring them things like clothes or medical supplies . Recently she walked everyday , taking supplies with her, to clean the wounds of a boy who had fallen out of a tree while gathering firewood. The family had no running water, so she had to bring everything necessary with her. A good backpack would make a difference.
Perfect for my 70th birthday on the AT. Thank you.
I’d use this pack to hike parts of the Florida Trail to train for doing the AT sometime in the next two years. I’m 67 so need to get this done before it’s too late! LOL Thanks for the opportunity to win this!
I would take this out on the Arizona Trail, which i will be beginning in 2018
Going to havasupi falls July 7-11 after that in September buffalo river trail and in December I’ll be hiking the lone star trail this would be the perfect pack for my adventures this year
I’m a recent grad who has dreamt of hiking the AT since 7th grade, but couldn’t hike it this summer due to insufficient funds. I’m working at a bakery now to earn some dough (heh, literally) and gradually buying gear to launch my through hike next year. This pack look awesome- super lightweight without sacrificing comfort or capacity. It would be incredible if I won it, but if not, I hope it goes to someone who really needs it (ok, so I got sucked into reading a lot of the comments). Best of luck to everyone!
I would use the pack with my son as we hike the Superior Hiking Trail and work on his backpacking merit badge for Boy Scouts.
I’d take it to California to break it in and get used to it: From Memorial Campground at the Indians in the Las Padres National Forest to Big Sur. The roads are closed to motorists but hikers can cut in over the mountain from the east.
Thanks for offering this chance to win a great pack! I would love to win as it would help lighten my load when I get on the AT next year to celebrate my 50th birthday! The old knees aren’t what they used to be and a lighter and better fitting pack would certainly be a blessing!
Hiking the AT is #1 on my bucket list! I’ve been following “BigFoot”,”HomemadeWanderlust”, Chocolate Balls” and several other thru hikers who have been such an inspiration! My 9 to 5 is close to an end. Soon it will be my turn to jump back into nature and smell the pine trees! A nice lightweight back pack would bring me one step closer to that goal!
If I were to win this pack, it would be my very first. I’ve never been on a long hiking trip before, but I’ve dreamed of hiking the AT for quite some time now. Upon graduating high school in May, I’ve decided to conquer the AT after I get my master’s. Until then, I’ll be preparing; for starters, in two weeks I’m going to Starved Rock State Park a few hours away from where I live in Illinois. If I win this pack, it will go with me on many adventures, eventually including the legendary Appalachian Trail. Thank you so much for your consideration, and I can’t wait to start my journeys with or without this pack!
I currently have an older larger Gregory and would like to lighten up. My daughters boyfriend has one of these and looks like it is really working for him. we are looking at doing Bear mountain this fall and possibly the PCT next year. I am coming up on 67 so less is more for easier hiking…
Because, I wan’t to bring the price of my thru hike down. Any free gear is appreciated since I am a student with little working hours for pay.
On the Ozark Highlands Trail(my practice), and then the AT.
We are planning to take a camping / hiking trip in the Adirondacks this summer so this pack would definitely come in handy.
Hitting the Long Trail and Presidential Traverse in August and this sure would come in handy!!
Love this pack. My daughter and I have been section hiking the AT. This pack would be perfect for me as it would lighten my load a gteat deal on these hikes.
