Having recently retired from a 44 year career at the top of my profession as an ophthalmic photographer, I’ve turned my attention to an extensive bucket list of outdoor adventures. My usual pursuits of fly fishing, paddling, cycling, and brewing have all been put on the back burner as I prepare for an end-to-end hike of The Long Trail. Training has included multiple LASH hikes on the AT where I was given the trail name, 12 Pack. It sure fits, but I may adopt a new trail name specifically for The Long Trail. I'll be following in my father's footsteps. He backpacked a long section of the LT in 1937 when he graduated from high school in Barre, VT. I heard his stories growing up, and recently stumbled on his 1937 guide book and journal from that trip. I’d like to honor his legacy by hiking the entire LT.
